Philipp Meyer

Born in 1993, I was raised near Hamburg. Originally I pursued drawing as a hobby after work but never got any formal training until recently. Currently I try to increase the amount of drawing and painting parallel to my day job in engineering. My main influences are the great masters of the renaissance, Russian academic artists like Ilya Repin and Valentin Serov, other 19th century artists like Anders Zorn, Adolph von Menzel and Joaquín Sorolla but also more recent artists like Richard Schmid, Jeffrey Watts and Robert Liberace.

I am interested in traditional drawing and painting with media such as graphite, charcoal, watercolor and oil paint. Portraits and figures from life or photos are the main subjects I draw and paint, even though I like to explore landscape and still life too.

Education and Experience:

Since Feb. 2023: Akademische Kunstschule Gerlach - Hamburg
